Everybody knows that swim coaches know everything. It's a fact of the sport.

But when a swim coach can step up and show his swimmers that he or she has the skills to back up what's inside of their heads, it takes their credibility to a whole new level.

David Marsh showed up and earned some big respect from around the swimming community on Saturday when he anchored the “North Carolina Masters Swimming” (aka SwimMAC Carolina) 200 free relay at the Short Course Yards National Championship meet.

His anchor swim was a 23.87, carrying his relay home to a victory in 1:22.05. The full relay splits:

Nick Brunelli (19.86) – Josh Schneider (19.20) – Cullen Jones (19.12) – David Marsh (23.87) – 1:22.05

Of course, prior to becoming one of the country's most famous coaches, Marsh was a 5-time All-American backstroker at Auburn.

Marsh's split would have also put him on the A-relay for the SwimMAC women.
