Sprint News 5/15/12: Bousquet Pops a Rib; Lars Leaving Tennessee

…French swimmer Fred Bousquet made only a brief appearance last weekend in Charlotte, where he swam a 56.04 in the 100 fly prelims on Friday before scratching the rest of the meet. It turns out, he injured his ribs while putting on his suit for that swim. He's receiving treatment and the injury has been characterized as “not serious” but “enough pain for some concern.” Bousquet leaves for the European Championships on Wednesday, where he'll be swimming the 50 fly as a big medal favorite…

…Sources within the Tennessee program confirmed that Lars Jorgensen, who spent the spring semester as the men's interim head coach before Matt Kredich took over the men's and women's programs, will be moving on. No word on officially where he'll end up, but there are some good jobs still floating around. Alabama and Texas both have yet to settle on their assistants, and there's some D1 head coaching positions still vacant – New Mexico, Nevada, Yale. He's certainly done enough to earn at least a phone call for some of those positions - and the domino rally probably isn't done yet either…

…Texas swimmer Dax Hill revealed via Twitter on Monday the design of his National Championship ring for winning the 200 free title this year. The cool feature about this ring, seen above, is the “100″ banner below the NCAA logo, as Dax was Texas Swimming & Diving's 100th NCAA event champion in school history. That puts them in company with only Michigan, Stanford, Ohio State, and USC as the only programs to have broken that barrier…
