The University of Michigan Men's Swimming & Diving Team head coach Mike Bottom announced today that he has handed all of the upperclassmen of his team a one week suspension.
“What is clear at this point is that the upperclassmen on the men’s swimming and diving team acted in a manner that was inconsistent with our rules, policies and expectations for a student-athlete at Michigan. We have suspended them from all team activities for a period of one week’s time,” University of Michigan Athletics Director Dave Brandon said today.
The University will have no further comments on the issue, and all discipline will be handled internally. “Upperclassmen” typically refers to juniors and seniors. That includes 21 members of the 48-man roster.
The Wolverines have not released their 2012-2013 schedule yet, but they typically begin competition the first week of October, which is just over three weeks from today.
