Illinoisan Connor Black from Mundelein High School and the Cats Aquatic Team, the second-rated recruit still on the bored, has given his verbal commitment to Ted Knapp and the Stanford Cardinal for next season.

Black is a sprint freestyler and butterflier, with bests of 20.54 and 44.77 in the 50 and 100 freestyles, as well as a 48.86 in the 100 fly.

Those swims, however, pale in comparison to the meet he had in long course this summer at the Junior National Championships. There, he was a 50.98 in the 100 free, and a 53.16 in the 100 fly. In that 100 fly, he actually broke the Junior Nationals Meet Record in the event.

If he is able to get his long course times down to where his yards times are, then he should push every part of a butterfly group that already includes Tom Kremer and Gray Umbach, two of the fastest high school butterfliers ever, Ryan Arata, and Ben Lovell; as well as 2012-2013 sophomore John Lane.

In this class, they've brought in Jimmy Yoder already this fall.

Stanford attacked their biggest need, breaststrokers, first this fall with verbals from Daniel Ye and Max Williamson, but now they are just looking for more speed to continue to beef up their depth, and give themselves plenty of relay options.

By far the biggest American male left on the board is Sven Campbell, a sprinter out of California, though we're working to confirm reports that he has made his decision as well.
